Collection: Faraday Mine

This collection features classic mineral species and specimens from the Faraday mine (Madawaska mine) south of Bancroft, Ontario. Mineral specimens from this locality are much sought after by collectors due to the unique suite of minerals including hematite and goethite-coated calcite crystals which are increasingly challenging to acquire. The Faraday mine is a former uranium mine that closed 42 years ago and the main ore mineral was uraninite with associated calcite, uranophane, chalcopyrite, selenite, fluorite and more. The specimens in this collection represent Faraday mine ‘mineral classics’ and would occupy special spaces in any beginner or advanced mineral collection.
