Description: A rich, bright yellow, 1.5 cm gold mass is set atop a 5.4 cm blocky milky quartz matrix with gold showing throughout the matrix. This specimen is from a classic, well-known California gold mine. A large amount of gold for the specimen size. The original Harvard Au-Ag underground mine first produced in 1891. It became part of the Jamestown Group of mines from 1986 to 1994 with open pit mining. The Group mines closed in 1994, but most subsequent finds were labeled as coming from the Harvard Mine.
