Description:  An individual clear to white Weloganite crystal in a cavity with a quartz rim. The Weloganite crystal has growth striations. Weloganite is extremely rare, with good specimens of this strontium, sodium, zirconium carbonate increasingly difficult to obtain. Weloganite was first identified in the 1960’s and the Francon Quarry is the type locality. The quarry has been inactive since 1981 and will never be active again. It is in the central part of the city of Montréal (pop. over 2.5 million), in a residential area, and owned by the City.
