Mineral(s): Molybdenite
Location: Joiner Property, (Wilberforce), Monmouth Township, Haliburton County (now Highlands East), Ontario, Canada
Size: 5 x 4.5 x 3.1 cm
Description: A beautiful, silvery 3 x 2 cm molybdenite plate on matrix. Several smaller plates and showings on the specimen as well. Specimens from the Joiner Property are hard to come by and are generally old time specimens dating to the 1930s or 1960s. Sits perfectly.
The Joiner property was discovered in 1917 and explored and assessed for molybdenum by various claim owners over subsequent years. Significant surface trenching was undertaken in 1936 that produced a limited number of molybdenum specimens. Surface exposures have also produced limited specimens as well. The property is located in the center or a circle of previous uranium mines including Cardiff Uranium mines and Bicroft properties.
